Efficacy in panic disorder (PD)

Cipralex is effective in the treatment of panic disorder.

Change in panic attacks frequency from baseline (log transformed) (ref.1)

Change in frequency of panic attacks from baseline to endpoint in patients with panic disorder treated with escitalopram 10–20 mg/day, citalopram 20–40 mg/day or placebo (LOCF).
* Significantly different from placebo, p=<0.05
  • In a 10-week trial, escitalopram (10–20 mg/day) significantly reduced the frequency of panic attacks compared with placebo.

Mean change from baseline Panic and Agoraphobia Scale (P&A) scale total score (ref.1)

Mean changes in panic and agoraphobia scores from baseline in patients with panic disorder treated with escitalopram 10-20 mg/day, citalopram 20-40 mg/day or placebo.

  • Escitalopram significantly improved CGI ratings for panic attacks, anticipatory anxiety and phobic avoidance compared with placebo
  • Significantly more escitalopram-treated patients achieved remission compared with placebo-treated patients.
