Cipralex vs. Placebo

Cipralex presents better efficacy and faster symptom relief

Mean change in MARDS score (ref.1)

Mean change from baseline in MADRS total score in patients with major depressive disorder treated with escitalopram 10 mg/day, escitalopram 20 mg/day, citalopram 40 mg/day or placebo (last observation carried forward [LOCF] analysis) during an 8-week period.
* Significantly different from placebo, p<0.05
** Significantly different from placebo, p<0.01
Asterisks at weeks 2,4 and 6 refer to p-values for escitalopram 10 and 20 mg/day

  • Studies have demonstrated the robust and consistent efficacy of escitalopram. A significant difference was observed between treatment with escitalopram and placebo in the primary outcome variable (MADRS total score at week 8, LOCF) in five out of six studies. (ref.1)

Change in CGI-S score (ref.2)

(a) Adjusted mean change from baseline in CGI-S and (b) adjusted mean CGI-I scores by week, (observed cases, OC).

CGI-I score (ref.2)

(a) Adjusted mean change from baseline in CGI-S and (b) adjusted mean CGI-I scores by week, (observed cases, OC).
* Significantly different from placebo, p<0.05
** Significantly different from placebo, p<0.01
  • Escitalopram (10–20 mg/day) offers significant superiority versus placebo as early as week 1 or week 2
