Cipralex vs. comparators

The more severe the depression is in the baseline the greater is the difference in efficacy between Cipralex and its comparators.

In pooled analysis Cipralex showed significant superiority in efficacy compared with other antidepressants.

Estimated treatment difference at end of study in MADRS total score (ref.1)

Estimated differences in treatment effect in MADRS total score at end of study shown with 95% confidence intervals for all patients. Positive values are in favour of escitalopram, whereas negative values are in favour of comparators.Ven, venlafaxine; Meta, meta-analysis (adapted from Kennedy et al., 2006).
  • Cipralex shows a significantly greater efficacy than all comparators (citalopram, sertraline, fluoxetine, paroxetine and venlafaxine XR). (ref.1)

Estimated treatment difference between Cipralex and comparators (ref.1)

Estimated treatment difference (shown with 95% confidence intervals) between escitalopram and all comparators in adjusted mean MADRS change from baseline to end of doubleblind treatment, by baseline severity. Esc, Escitalopram (Kennedy et al., 2006).
  • The more depressed the patients were at baseline, the larger the treatment difference between Cipralex and its comparators.
