Cipralex vs. Citalopram

Faster and more effective than citalopram

MADRS mean change from baseline (ref.1)

The pooled analysis examined the evaluations that were conducted at baseline and after 1, 2, 3, 6 and 8 weeks of double-blind treatment.
* p≤0.05 vs. placebo
** p≤0.01 vs. placebo
*** p≤0.001 vs. placebo
#≤0.05 vs. citalopram
  • Early onset of symptom improvement may increase patient adherence to treatment and reduce progression in major depression. (ref.1)
  • Cipralex significantly improved depressive symptoms from week 1 compared to placebo and citalopram

Mean change in MADRS score (ref.2)

Mean change from baseline in MADRS total score in a subgroup of severely depressed patients treated with escitalopram 10–20 mg/day, citalopram 20–40 mg/day or placebo.
*Significantly different from placebo, p<0.05
***Significantly different from placebo, p<0.001
#Significantly different from citalopram, p<0.05
  • Severely ill Cipralex-patients (MADRS >=30) showed greater improvement than citalopram patients (ref.2)
